Much of Randy’s experience in graphic and editorial design is derived from his time working on various magazines, start-up productions, and personal projects.

Randy redesigned and helped relaunch Medley, a Syracuse-based magazine focused on the intersection of the city’s cultures from a socially conscious perspective. He acted as the design and production editor during his tenure as creative director, building a new style guide, layout templates, and a library of illustrative and typeface-linked assets for a revolving team of contributing designers. The new logo, feel, and aesthetic aimed to be mindful of past iterations of the publication while cleaning up the overall presentation of stories. All spreads featured below were designed by Randy. Cover images and their coinciding stories photographed by Jordan Larson.

LAYOUT & GRAPHIC DESIGN

Randy also assisted with the redesign of 20 Watts, Syracuse’s premiere music magazine. He designed spreads for the fall and spring issues and assisted the design editor and creative director with general art direction throughout both books. Covers designed by Hannah Murphy and Sarah Rada, respectively. Sampled below are selects of his work from each.
